The majority of the construction is made out of powder coated steel. This is perfect because if you plan on storing this outside it will not rust.
Just make sure not to scratch the powder coated surface! If you do happen to do that we recommend spraying the exposed metal with a rust blocker of some sort. It may not look pretty but it will make sure that surface rust doesn’t begin to set in.
This model has four tires, which is much more convenient than two, especially if your yard has some hilly terrain. These tires are also foamed solid tires, which means you never have to worry about them going flat.
The belt driven hose guide is also a game changer. This hose guide makes it really easy to wind the hose up, and evenly distributes it across the spool.
Overall, for the price this hose reel cart with wheels is the best bang for your buck. The quality is very good and it will get the job done.

The Gardena 18517-20 is probably the most unique hose reel carts with wheels that we have seen.
It is made out of both aluminum and plastic, which are both lightweight materials that help keep the weight down.
The design of the Gardena is also very good, with a light blue drum and gray accents, it really does look good.
While the Gardena only has two wheels, it has an awesome kickstand that can be folded out when you have wheeled it out to where you need it.
The kick stand also slightly elevates the two wheels making sure that your hose reel cart won’t go anywhere while you are using it.
Similar to the Liberty Garden hose reel carts, this one also has a hose guide that makes sure the hose is wound evenly around the drum.
It also comes with 66ft of 1/2 hose that can be used to connect to a water supply, and the Garden 18517-20 can hold an additional 330ft of 1/2″ hose!
This hose reel cart with wheels really is an amazing deal, although it is a bit more expensive than the Liberty Garden 871.

The KLZ 150 ft. Hose Reel Cart with wheels is a great option for anyone on a budget.
While it only has two wheels, it is very light so it is not that difficult to move around.
It can hold 150 ft. of garden hose, which is plenty for small to medium sized yards.
Another cool thing about this hose reel cart is that it comes fully assembled.
We do recommend storing this under some sort of covering that keeps it out of the sun. Since it is made out of plastic, the sun can start to slowly degrade the material. So to make sure that it lasts as long as possible, it is important to keep it out of the sun when not in use.
The reeling mechanism is not belt driven, so it is a little tricky to get used to reeling the hose back up. With a little bit of practice, though, it isn’t a big deal.
Unfortunately the wheels are also made out of plastic, just like the rest of the cart. This helps keep the weight down but plastic wheels are simply not as good as no flat rubber tires.

ELEY is known for their extremely high quality construction. They offer a 10 Year guarantee on every product they sell. If it breaks, leaks, or rusts then they will replace it at no cost to you.
One really cool feature about the ELEY Hose Reel Cart with wheels is that it has a brake for the reeling system. After you are done winding your hose up you just activate the brake and the chamber will not spin.
There are a few downsides to this hose reel cart.
First, it only has two wheels. This may be a downside if you are going over hilly terrain, but if you are using this cart on your driveway, it is actually really nice because you don’t have to worry about it rolling away. The tires themselves are very nice as well. 10 inch rubber tires that are flat free, which means you don’t have to worry about filling them up with air. ELEY does sell a different hose reel cart with 4 wheels, and it is about a $100 more.
The second drawback is that there isn’t any storage basket located on it. This can be a little bit of a hassle if you like to take some hand tools or a water bottle with you when you are watering in your yard.
Overall it is a really well designed hose reel cart and many professionals use it. It is the most expensive one on our list and for good reason; it is very well made.

It holds up to 200 ft of ⅝ inch hose, which is plenty for most yards.
If you are someone who values looks, then this one may be a good choice. It has a very pleasing pattern design on the reel and a nice bronze finish.
It has all the nice bells and whistles, including never flat tires and a storage basket, brass fittings, and a powder coated finish. This is a reel cart that will definitely last for a long time with proper care.
The never flat tires are very good to have because you don’t want to worry about filling your hose reel cart tires with air.
The storage basket is a nice addition for any small items you may want to keep with the hose reel cart, but it is a little narrow.
The brass fittings are really great quality, just make sure to use teflon tape when attaching any hoses so that there aren’t any annoying water leaks.
Goplus Garden Hose Reel Cart with Wheels
The Goplus Garden Hose Reel Cart with Wheels is a great heavy duty option. It isn’t quite as expensive as the ELEY hose reel cart, so there are some tradeoffs, but it is still a very nice hose reel cart.
The design is very basic, so it is extremely easy to assemble.
It also has a very nice big handle for reeling in the hose, which is very convenient.
There are a couple of things to watch out for with this hose reel cart, however. It is noticeably taller than some of the other hose reel carts we have reviewed, so if your yard has rough terrain and you park it on a slight angle, there is some risk of it tipping over.
The wheels are pneumatic, which is good, especially on grass. The problem is that the tires are not no flat tires, so they will at some point deflate and will have to be reinflated.
Overall, the Goplus garden hose reel cart with wheels is a great option if you have a larger yard that is relatively flat. It is well made, but has a couple of flaws.

For example, we have 6 acres of land that has some pretty large hills. If your situation is similar then I would recommend going with a hose reel cart that has a low center of gravity and four wheels.
Using a two wheeled hose reel cart on hilly terrain can be a pain, as they can easily tip over.

It is important to get a hose reel cart that can hold the amount of hose that you need.
For larger yards that only have one centralized source of water, you should probably get a hose reel cart that can hold over 200ft of hose. For me, although our yard is pretty large, we have a couple of water spigots that are placed throughout so I don’t really need that much hose capacity.
Durability
Durability is a really important factor to consider when buying a hose reel cart with wheels. If you are going to be using your hose reel cart often and will be storing it outside when not in use, then a stainless steel or aluminum one is a must.
Plastic hose reel carts just simply cannot compete on quality when compared to metal hose reel carts. Plastic is obviously much lighter, but when exposed to the elements it will degrade fairly quickly.
